On March 6th, 2017, cyclists supported by three Phuket schools – Kajonkiet International School, British International School, and Gecko Nursery School – set off on the cycle of a lifetime as they rode 845km from Hua Hin to Phuket. The event lasted for six days, with an average of seven hours a day of cycling. The event’s mission was to raise money for three charities – Phuket Has Been Good to Us, The Good Shepherd, and Share 4 Change. Amazingly, Ride 4 Kids goal was 1,000,000 baht. Even more amazingly, as of Tuesday 28th March we Phuketarians raised 1,630,000 baht! The 14 brave warriors who fought their way back to Phuket have many stories to tell their friends and families. For example, one rider, Michael, had fallen off his bike three days before the kick-off of Ride 4 Kids, cracking his rib, tearing two of his cartilages and giving him a hairline crack in his elbow. Yet determination and team spirit from his fellow riders carried him the whole 845km! Finally, on March 11th, 2017, the Ride 4 Kids cyclists returned to Phuket. As they passed the finish line, Michael burst into tears, as he had pushed himself to his mental limits. Phuket should start preparing for next years Ride 4 Kids, because it looks like 2018 will hold an adventure just as big!
